"When They See Us" Screening

At The Gathering Harlem, we are committed to Justice, Love, and Mercy. We are hosting this event because we want to engage in dialogue about the important things that have happened in our community and still happen daily.

We will be watching the first episode of a new doco-series coming out on Netflix. Ava Duvernay, the director of the film, has come out with another masterpiece work that delves into the reality of the lives of Black and Brown bodies in America, specifically boys. In her new documentary series that will air on Netflix, When They See Us, she goes into the story of the boys known as the 'Central Park 5'.

Docu-series description: Five teens from Harlem become trapped in a nightmare when they're falsely accused of a brutal attack in Central Park. Based on the true story.

This evening will consist a screening of the first episode followed by a Q + A by Black men who are Harlem residents.

Join us as we engage in conversation about real things and connect them to how we get to live out our values of Jutice, Love, and Mercy.

***Water and snacks will be provided.
